and Our Banner |
This story takes place in an alternate version of modern-day Earth, where Earth is home to many different kinds of humanoids (e.g., every different combination of "anthro" or mix you could possibly imagine.) As humans are said to have evolved from apes, other humanoid species have evolved from other animals. The most common of the humanoid groups are mammals, though fish and insect humanoids are known to exist.
These tribes share the world in the same way that ant hills and wolves' dens share the world. They are separate, but kin, aware of each other's existence, but neither taking part in the others' society. Humans here are much like humans in our world; however, they suffer from a characteristic frailty and have not reproduced nearly as much as they have in our world. They live in small colonies that are sealed away from wild lands by stone walls. Behind those walls, they work on their technology (technology is a prized passtime in human culture,) and study everything in hopes of "bettering" their tribes. The humans, for the most part, were as harmless or harmful as any other tribe. Difficulty with humans usually came as a result the humans studying other humanoid species outside of arranged agreements, or when their curiosity stretched ethical boundaries. One human city, in particular, was known to violate agreements. It lie in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, covered in forests. Many many Anthros had met their deaths here. Different humanoid species are not well integrated yet, so there is mutual fascination between the homo sapiens and the other humanoids and animals. The humans, renowned for their research (which is often loud, messy, and invasive,) are somewhat intimidating. For this reason, other species seldom cross them. Of course, this only makes humans more hungry for research. . . . You can play as anything-the-heck-you-want. It can be an anthro, a full animal species, a mix, a changer, a human-- whatever! If you're not a human, chances are you're either outside of human establishments completely, or you are struggling to get out/stay away from them. Sometimes, the humans will send agents out to study you in the forest. Be wary of them. Although frail and cautious by nature, human cities have a lot of tricks up their sleeves. But, don't worry... You have skill and the rest of nature on your side. |
